Cumwhinton Primary School Logo Cumwhinton School

Cumwhinton School provides a primary education for children aged 4 to 11 years.  The school, built in 1895, has been extended and improved over the years.  The classrooms are bright and cheerful and are conducive to a good learning environment.  There is a Victorian school hall which is used for assemblies, dining, arts and PE activities.  One large hard-surfaced play area is complemented by a school garden and nature area.  There are also two purpose built, secure outdoor classrooms.  In addition, the school has a playing field for games and activities.  The school is a central feature of the village of Cumwhinton and serves the wider communities of Cotehill, Wetheral Pasture and Carleton.

Description

At Cumwhinton, every child is encouraged to discover and nurture his and her special gifts and talents through a stimulating curriculum that has global, sporting and the creative arts dimensions, going beyond the basic national curriculum requirements.  We are dedicated to achieving success and happiness for all our pupils.

We have a dynamic team of vocational teachers and support staff who act as exemplary role models, educating and nurturing each child, enabling them to achieve high standards of academic attainment whilst also enabling them to become capable, caring and confident human beings.

Cumwhinton Primary School has the advantage of being set in beautiful grounds with a wonderful playing field and community play area for children to enjoy during break times and their PE lessons.  We take great pride in our learning environment and use it as a tool for inspiring learning as well as celebrating achievement.

At Cumwhinton School we promote a family and team work ethic which is embedded in the ethos of our school.  Education is a partnership between home and school and we place a great deal of emphasis on our partnership with parents.  We believe that children learn best when home and school work together for their benefit.  When your child starts school, it is not where your job ends and ours begins; it is where we begin our learning journey together.
