Lanercost CE Primary School Nursery Class

Lanercost Nursery is situated within Lanercost School. The children share a classroom, conservatory and a large outdoor area with the Reception and Key Stage 1 pupils. The outdoor area consists of a wooden play house, a quiet area with a wooden bench, tarmac area, a staged area and their very own vegetable patch.

We encourage children to build up warm and caring relationships with their peers and adults. Your child will have a key worker (displayed on the class 1 notice board). They will be responsible for welcoming and settling your child in the mornings and are available to exchange any information/concerns with parents.

Within this area, we try to develop children’s independence for example, by being patient and allowing them time to do things for themselves including choosing their own activities and putting on their coats. We also want children to feel safe, happy and secure and feel proud in their own achievements.

The Nursery is available for children from the term after their third birthday and is open from 8.50 am until 11.50 term time only. This facility is available using the children’s ‘Free Entitlement’ of 15 hours per week (Government funding). A healthy midmorning snack is provided and there is an option for your child to stay over lunch, although there is a charge for this service (currently £4).
