New Changing Places toilets now open at Tebay Services and Rheged
We are delighted to announce that new Changing Places UK toilets are now open at 2 of Eden's most popular destinations.
These clean, safe facilities at Rheged near Penrith and Tebay Services Northbound on the M6 are designed with extra space and equipment to ensure that disabled people, their families and carers can travel and enjoy days out with dignity.
Councillor Virginia Taylor, Westmorland and Furness Council’s Cabinet Member for Sustainable Communities and Localities, said: “I’m very proud that we have helped bring these vital facilities to 2 of Eden’s most visited and accessible destinations. They’ll give disabled people, their families and friends increased confidence to travel and explore our fantastic landscape and attractions."
The Changing Places toilets were funded by £100,000 from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities' Changing Places Fund in association with Muscular Dystrophy UK following a funding bid by the council; £70,000 from the Westmorland Family and £20,000 from the former Eden District Council.
