Age UK West Cumbria Bradbury Independent Living Centre-based Day Service

The service is based at the Bradbury Independent Living Centre, Workington for people aged 60+ living in Allerdale or Copeland. Members will take part in an initial holistic assessment to develop a personalised plan, so that whether socialising or partaking in a range of activities, their needs are being met. Members can pursue individual activities or take part in group activities to share common interests or develop new skills. Activities will include digital awareness, arts and crafts, quizzes, movement & seated exercise, discussions, information sessions etc. The aim is to boost confidence, enhance independence, support rehabilitation programmes and address social isolation. It can also act as carer's respite.  The service also enables a planned progression to or from individual support. These groups are suitable for anyone over 60 who needs extra support provided by a trained staff member, whether they have sensory, physical or mental impairment or early dementia. Lunch is available and transport from across Allerdale or Copeland can be arranged on request. People can access the service via social care, direct payments, Individual Service Funds or by self-funding.  Please phone for further details or to arrange a taster visit.
