SOS LOGO Social Outreach Services CIC

Social outreach services are a bespoke non-building-based service to support people with learning disabilities and/or autism. We provide person centred plans for all our people we support which work towards an accreditation. These accredited courses offer an individual who has complex needs an opportunity to work towards a long-term goal and have a purpose and opportunity to show their talents and skills. These courses range from disability sailing to forest schools. We work towards increasing an individual’s social tolerance, develop life/work skills which enables an individual a role to play in the local community and society. Social outreach services offer hands on work activity and quality assured training in a caring and supportive environment, for people with learning disabilities and/or autism. We create trading and business links at the same time as providing specialist health and social care to enable individuals to take part in a real live working environment. We offer alternative day care and support for those disadvantaged through learning difficulties, physical disabilities or other complex needs, allowing them to make their own contribution in the world of work and access appropriate training to achieve nationally recognised work-based qualifications. Many adults with complex needs/learning disabilities through no fault of their own stand in danger of being excluded from the labour market, training and society at large. Employment opportunities are limited. Often quite traditional day services do not meet their aspirations. We offer opportunities appropriate to the individuals needs and skills of the people involved. We allow people to progress at their own pace and over a period of time, some progress into employment. People with very significant disabilities are offered more long-term work activity or training which enables them to develop to their maximum potential and make an equal contribution to the world of work at SOS whilst enjoying the benefits of increased self-confidence and self-esteem that it brings. The whole focus is to give these adults the opportunity for progression and social interaction in their working life. We help them to acquire skills, experience and accreditations towards nationally recognised qualifications according to the individual’s needs. The emphasis is on making a contribution in a real live working environment to enhance the quality of lives for all that take part. Each site within our existing portfolio of services are equipped with class rooms, workshops & kitchen facilities to enable therapeutic learning &engagement. Every person we support has ten individual out comes identified, with family, professionals and ourselves, these outcomes work towards short and long term outcomes, which are collated into a recording graph on a monthly basis. These outcomes show progression and also regression, so we can evidence along the way what has been achieved. These outcomes work towards increasing social tolerance, developing life skills, work experience skills, organisational, behavioural, and social skills. The provision will provide door to door transport as this is often a major barrier in delivering services and people remain social excluded and isolated. There is no extra cost for this service.
