Flimby Primary School Nursery Class

At our school we see learning as a journey for children and staff. We want our pupils to be enthusiastic about and to enjoy their learning. We aim to develop in them a sense of wonder and respect for themselves and the world around them. Skills related to appropriate behaviour, making judgements and recognising the causes and consequences of actions are central to our ethos of educating the whole child.
The organisation is flexible and children are taught in a variety of ways. Sometimes we work in mixed ability groups, sometimes in friendship group, sometimes as a whole class, and sometimes in same ability groups, depending on the number of children for the task. This broadens social skills and allows children to work in a variety of team situations, all of which provide valuable life skills.
We will realise our vision of education by offering a broad, rich, challenging curriculum in an environment that offers stimulation and security; using staff who offer care, support and pastoral guidance wherever and for whomever it is needed and who use innovative and inspiring teaching methods to ensure the highest quality education for our children.
Children are offered a place in the term following their 3rd birthday. We have intakes in January, April and September. So for example, if your child turns 3 before January they are entitled to 5 free 3 hour sessions each week, beginning in the Spring Term.
