Grasslot Infant School Nursery Class
Little Sunbeams is our new pre-school childcare which will open in September 2015. This new nursery provision targets children who have turned 2 years old. Some families will be eligible for a funded place and receive 15 hours free childcare per week. We are offering 5 sessions of 3 hours operating from 12 – 3pm. The funding is available to those families receiving the benefits outlined on the application form. For those families who are not eligible for a funded place, individual 3 hour sessions can be booked at a cost of £10.
The 2 year old places require a 1:4 adult to child ratio. All places will need to be booked at the beginning of each half term to secure a place. Payment for each week will need to be made on the Monday for the week to secure a place. Due to the staffing costs, all cancelled places will need to be paid for in full if less than 24 hours notice is given.
Little Sunbeams will operate as part of Grasslot Infant School so the same policies and procedures will apply. Children will be expected to wear a school sweatshirt and grey or black trousers, leggings, joggers or skirts. The children can bring a small packed lunch (up to 3 items) with a drink in a suitable bag.
The session will be organised into:
- 12 – 1pm Play session
- 1-1.30pm Packed lunch
- 1.30 -2pm Outdoor play
- 2 – 2.30pm Carpet activities
- 2.30 – 2.50pm Story, songs and rhymes
- 2.50 Collection and home time

If a class teacher feels that a child is experiencing difficulties with his or her school life they will consult the parents to discuss the problems and plan differentiated work to meet the child’s needs. If specific difficulties are identified then an Individual Education Plan will be compiled with specific targets and actions. Again this will be shared with the parents and reviewed half termly or termly.
