The Old Vicarage Residential Home

               The Old Vicarage Care Home is 19 bedded care home located in Allithwaite, close to Grange over Sands, Cumbria.  We cater for the elderly and physically frail including those with dementia. 

               The Old Vicarage is a vibrant, friendly place with lots going on.  Our residents are able to take part in a wide range of pursuits including home based activities such as arts and crafts, cooking, singing, musical recitals and gardening, as well as trips out in small groups to places that specifically interest them.

               We have strong links with the local community and invite our friends and neighbours to join us for celebrations throughout the year e.g. at our summer strawberry fete, bonfire and Christmas parties.

               Family members are welcome to visit whenever they like and encouraged to join in our activities.  For those who are unable to participate we provide a quarterly newsletter that provides an update on all that’s taken place.

               We have excellent links with our local GPs, District Nurses, Physios, Dieticians and Speech Therapist and call on them whenever required. We also make sure that our residents have access to a dentist, optician and audiologist.

               Whilst most of our residents are with us full time, when we have vacancies we are able to provide a respite service. We can also offer day care to local people.  

               The wellbeing and dignity of our residents is hugely important to us and therefore our staff are recruited for their values of kindness, compassion and patience.  Thankfully because we have got it right, our staff don’t often leave and therefore we are able to provide continuity of care.  We also provide on-going development training to all our team, including ‘Feelings Matter Most’ dementia training that helps them understand how to connect to the emotions and feelings of our residents.
