Netherton Infant & Nursery School Class

Netherton Infant School is a Community School with 105 pupils on roll, (72 full time) between the ages of 3-7 years. It is a small school set close to the centre of Maryport and the school has benefited in recent years from improvements to the building, which has sensitively remodelled it from a Victorian School to a bright and modern one but retaining the attractive sandstone features of the original building.
Netherton School promotes success for each child with the following aims:
- To enable each child to realise his/her potential in all areas of the curriculum.
- To create a positive and friendly atmosphere in which learning takes place without fear of failure.
- To develop feelings of self-worth and to encourage each child to listen to and respect other people’s opinions even if they are different from their own.

- Description
We recognise that children learn at different rates and work is differentiated to allow for this variation. All children are helped to produce work to the best of their ability. Class teachers quickly identify children needing extra help because of learning difficulties.
