Derwent Vale Primary School Logo Derwent Vale Primary School Nursery Class

Derwent Vale Primary School is a happy and successful school, where staff work as a strong team towards a common aim – to provide a rich, real and relevant educational experience for all pupils. We believe that children are entitled to a primary education that offers quality, breadth of experience, standards of excellence and sense of community. We strive to provide a nurturing environment in which children can grow and develop into confident responsible young people, capable of achieving high levels of personal attainment.

We believe in the value of a family school in which brothers and sisters can share the same experience. We pride ourselves on the strong partnership which exists between parents, pupils, staff, governors and the local community. We aim to develop the highest standards of behaviour and self-discipline where the rights and feelings of all are respected.

As part of the local community, we seek to take part in local events, to develop family learning, to address childcare issues and to use the local environment and expertise to enhance the curricular provision in school.

We are a growing school which serves the villages of Great Clifton and Little Clifton. We provide full time education for Reception to Year 6 pupils and a half day Nursery for pupils from the age of three. We are a friendly, family oriented school who welcome great support from our local community.

Local Offer

Description

Provision for access for pupils with special educational needs will be achieved by mainly age appropriate classes, differentiation of learning and extra support where available.

All children with Special Educational Needs will be included in all aspects of school life where possible in line with the Government's Statutory Inclusion Policy. There will be times however, when, to maximise learning, we ask pupils to work in small groups or in a one-to-one situation outside the classroom.
