At Thursby School we hope to provide a caring environment for your child, an environment which will help all children to grow into independent and responsible people. We work hard to ensure every young person is happy, safe and successful. Ours is a caring school with an atmosphere of calm and purposeful learning. The school has a long history of excellent relationships with parents, carers and the community. We believe we can only achieve the best for your child by close co-operation between home and school.

Our school values are Respect, Resilience, Resilience, Teamwork and Positivity.

Through our curriculum we aim to give the children the children the necessary skills to prepare them for life in modern British society. The curriculum at Thursby Primary School reflects both the context of the school and the experiences of the children. This enables the children to be aspirational, to fulfil their potential and reach the highest of expectations that we have of them. We seek to provide a broad, balanced differentiated curriculum and offer a wide range of exciting, challenging activities and experiences to all pupils irrespective of ability, background, ethnic origin or gender.

We firmly believe that the education of the children is a partnership between children, staff and parents. Support from home is vital in maximising children’s chances of fulfilling their potential. In order to facilitate this partnership, we offer an open-door policy where parents are welcome to visit school to discuss their children’s progress with staff at a mutually convenient time. Each class has two parents’ meetings per year and reports are sent home at the end of the summer term.
