How do I get started?

It’s always good to talk, so speak to the school about your decision.

If your child has never been in a school (just reaching school age), you can just begin to home educate. We would really like contact with you to signpost you to groups, resources or answer questions you have.

If your child is currently in a mainstream school, you need to write to the Headteacher to ask for your child to be removed from their school roll. You can then get started on your home education journey. We would like you to contact us so we can help and support you.

The school then have to remove your child from their register and they have a legal duty to inform the Local Authority that a child has been taken off roll.

If your child is currently in a special school, you need to write to the Headteacher and request the Local Authority (LA) give permission for your child to be home educated. The LA then look at this on a case by case basis. The process will be completed as quickly as possible.
