SEND Toolkit

The Cumbria Toolkit for Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) is aimed at all educational providers and settings supporting Cumbrian children and young people aged 0 to 25 years.

The purpose of this toolkit is to provide detailed guidance on how educational settings can identify children and young people with different types and levels of need, along with information on appropriate steps and strategies.

It is important that it is read in conjunction with the Cumbria SEND Handbook and Criteria which provides clear information about how to meet individual needs through the graduated approach from SEN Support, involvement of specialist services and possible consideration of whether a request for an Education, Health and Care needs assessment is indicated.

The SEND Toolkit outlines the provision that Cumbria County Council expects to be in place in all educational settings in order to best support Cumbrian children and young people with SEN, and as such, forms an important part of Cumberland's SEND Local Offer.
